Working meeting at project of European Union ERASMUS + MASTIS (14-17.02.17, Lulea, Sweden)

14th -17th February 2017 at the Lulea University of Technology LTU (Sweden) the working meeting of partners, devoted to the development of master’s program in information systems, improvement of the education quality and the new teaching techniques in teaching and learning was held.

The meeting of partners with leading European universities, members of the research network ERCIS, and Ukrainian partners of Ukraine (Kharkiv National University of Economics – National Coordinator, National Polytechnic University “KPI”, Lviv National Polytechnic University, Vinnitsa National Polytechnic University, National Polytechnic University “KPI”, Kherson State University) and partners from Montenegro took place within the international project ERASMUS + MASTIS “Establishing Modern Master-level Studies in Information Systems”

 

The first part of the meeting was devoted to discussion of outcomes in forming of professional competence profile of Masters in Information Systems (IS). During the previous period, lecturers of Ukrainian universities and Montenegro together with representatives of IT companies and IT departments studied the professional standards, recommendations of professional associations in forming the list of competences. At the meetings the presentations were alternated with interactive trainings. Discussions and debates were focused on the requirements for competency profile of Master’s training, courses that ensure to get learning outcomes and problems of current practices and necessity in IT professionals training in different countries.

At the meeting the problem of use of educational innovations and modernization of teaching methods was discussed. At the seminar the experience of innovative educational practices from administrative, technological, pedagogical and didactic point of view was presented and discussed. Professor of Lulea University of Technology, coordinator of the Master’s program in Information Security Tero Päivärinta presented his experience in organization of educational process and learning outcomes assessment by means of Learning Diaries, introduced by wiki technology.

The head of the training unit LTU Oskar Gedda gave the master class and presented the systematic approach to implement the pedagogical ideas in future professional profile formation. The participants were also visitors of the distance course “Data mining”, conducted by professor of Cairo University Ahmed Aya. The virtual learning environment of the university was represented by professor of LTU Peter Parnes. Peter is also the founder and active coach of Lulea Maker space. It is creative space for young people in robotics, analog Fablab which is introduced in Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics as part of the ERASMUS + FABLAB. Participants visited RISE SICS, leading research institute of applied ICT in Sweden, founded in 1985. Colleagues from Montenegro spoke about their experiences of the Bologna process implementation, NQF, learning outcomes within the inter-project coaching of the project TEMPUS DEVCORE. At the seminar the questions of further cooperation in development of curriculum of Masters of Information Systems, project and financial management of the project were discussed.
