Working meeting at project of ERASMUS + MASTIS (25-29.09.17, Bled, Slovenia)

25-29th September 2017, working meeting of partners ERASMUS + MASTIS «Establishing Modern Master-level Studies in Information Systems» took place. The meeting was organized by partners from the University of Maribor and it was devoted to the development of the master’s program in the field of Information Systems, improving the quality of education and the latest pedagogical methods in teaching and learning.

There were partners from the leading European universities participating in research network the ERCIS, leading universities of Ukraine (Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics – national coordinator, National Polytechnic University «KPI», Lviv Polytechnic National University, Vinnitsa National Polytechnic University, Kherson State University, National Polytechnic University “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”) and Montenegro.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to discussion of the results achieved in the development of normative and selective disciplines of the Master’s program. Each university partner presented the brief curriculum content, teaching and assessment methods, literature, types and forms of organization of practical work and software that students will use in the learning process. Discussions have focused on the content of academic disciplines and the practice of using Web platforms in IT professionals training in different countries; it should ensure the achievement of learning outcomes.

The next topic, which was widely discussed at the meeting, was devoted to the use of educational innovations and modernization of teaching methods. The experience of the latest teaching technologies using was presented and discussed. Professor Lenart told about teaching experience using Design Thinking. The seminars about the experience of Gamification and Case Itudies using (professors Jereb, Urh) were interested. Professor Škraba conducted a master class and presented the practical examples of the use of system dynamics for modeling of complex systems.

Participants of the seminar also took part in the opening and plenary session of the 14th International Symposium on Operations Research in Slovenia (SOR’17). There was lively discussion of the lecture “Transitions toward Cooperation in Human Societies” reported by Professor Matjaž Perc.
At the project meeting, questions were discussed on further interaction in developing the curriculum of Masters in Information Systems and piloting of the developed disciplines, project and financial management of the project.
