The meeting of the project teams of the Ukrainian universities – the members of the Consortium of the project MASTIS took place on April 12, 2016 at S. Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics.
The project MASTIS «Establishing Modern Master-level Studies in Information Systems» is an international educational project funded by the European Union within the program ERASMUS+.
The main objective of the project is to improve the master’s program in information systems in accordance with the requirements of modern society; bring the universities closer to the needs of employers and changes in the global labor market and educational space; improve students’ employability. The teams from 16 universities of Ukraine, Montenegro, Federal Republic of Germany, Norway, Italy, Lithuania, the Republic of Slovenia, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Principality of Liechtenstein and French Republic, which is a coordinator, take part in the project. The project is a unique educational consortium, based on the network of universities – members of ERCIS (European Research Centre in Information Systems) and a good model of cooperation between universities and companies from different parts of Europe. The master’s program in information systems created according to European standards under the direction of leading French specialists in this field will be developed and implemented at partner universities as a result of implementation of the project MASTIS.
The meeting on April 12 was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National ERASMUS+ office, students, business representatives, project coordinator of MASTIS, professor of the University of Lyon 2 (France) Jean-Hugues Chauchat and professor Julien Velsan, representatives of Ukrainian universities involved in the project, namely, S. Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, National Technical University of Ukraine «Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», National University «Lviv Polytechnic», Vinnytsia National Technical University, Kherson State University, National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute».
The meeting was devoted to the discussion of the profile of the master in information systems, analysis of IS Master curriculum at partner universities, planning of the project. In addition, the National ERASMUS+ office monitored the project in the Ukrainian part of the consortium, found «bottlenecks» and provided recommendations to address them.
MASTIS has an ambitious goal to harmonize pedagogical approaches in IT education with the modern practices of leading universities and IT business. Achieving this goal is not possible without an active involvement of representatives of IT companies and that is why, from the first days of the project, the work was carried out to establish relationship with them. The result of this work was signing of the memorandum of cooperation between Kharkiv universities-participants of the project MASTIS (S. Kuznets KhNUE and NTU «KhPI») and IT cluster Kharkiv, unifying Kharkiv leading software developers, at the project meeting on April 12, 2016.
