A work meeting of partners within the international project ERASMUS+ MASTIS “Establishing Modern Master-level Studies in Information Systems ” took place in Kharkiv at October 23-26, 2018.The meeting was organised by project partners from Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics and National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”, and it was addressed to discussing the results of piloting courses, developed within the new program of Master training in Information Systems and Technologies, as well as use of up-to-date pedagogical methods of teaching and training.
The meeting was attended by partners from the leading European universities, that are participants of ERCIS research network (University Lumière Lyon 2 (France), University of Münster (Germany), University of Maribor (Slovenia), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), AICA(Italy), from partner Ukrainian universities (Lviv National Technical Univresity, Vinnytsia National Technical Unviersity, National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky KPI» ) and Montenegro.
The first day of the meeting was held in KNEU on the basis of the department of information system and was devoted to the discussion of the process of piloting standard disciplines within the program of Master training. Participants of MASTIS project team from KNEU presented the results of piloting of all disciplines and more focused on the piloting of training discipline “Management of information systems projects”. The piloting took place in the form of training course which allowed harmoniously combining theoretical and practical parts of the discipline. The students, invited to the presentation, told about impression of studying the discipline in interactive format. Such training method caused an active discussion. Representatives of partner universities noticed that the content of training corresponds to the modern needs of IT-business and up-to-date trends in European IT-education.
In addition, participants of the project team from KNEU held a mini-training for project partners, during which representatives of partner universities was united in teams (4-5 participants). Each team received a task and developed its own projects according to SCRUM methodology for 3 hours. The participants took responsibility of project preparing in regard to certain requirements. Web-service Trello was used for management all actions during project creation, which supports Agile project management paradigm.
Next day representatives of partner universities of MASTIS project took part in the conference “Kharkiv IT-sector: business and education”, in which the results of the Kharkiv IT-area research was presented (Olga Shapoval, Olesia Ulianova,IT-cluster). There were also reports on topics: “Science (research at the universities of France” (prof. Jerome DARMONT, prof.Jean Hugues CHAUCHAT, University Lumière Lyon 2 ), ”Digital resources in education” (PiereFranco RAVOTTO, AICA), “Innovation Campus” project (ass. prof Volodymyr Sokol, NTU “KPI”), “Blockchain in education” (Heorhii Burlakov, RGAND company), «EXPREME та Creative Europe: “Cultural Mediation at the Crossing of Business and Public Sector” (Serhii Prokopenko, Gwara Media)
The next two days project meeting was held at NTU “KPI” on the basis of the Software Engineering and Management Information Technologies Department. During the event the results of piloting of the course “Databases and data warehouses” were presented, which was developed within the MASTIS project. Master’s degree students of the first grade told about their impression of lectures and possibilities of their practical application. Representatives of the department also presented their colleagues Double diploma program, which operates between NTU “KPI” and Alpen-Adria-University, Klagenfurt.
In turn, the representatives of the KNEU presented the EDUQAS ERASMUS+ project “Implementation of Education Quality Assurance system via cooperation of University- Business-Government in HEIs” and the possibilities of inter-project collaboration on the criteria for the internal quality assurance of the master’s program in the field of information systems.
Also the meeting of participants of MASTIS project with representatives of Kharkiv IT companies, that shared positive experience of cooperation with universities and the perspectives of implementation of dual education, was held.
During the project meeting questions of further cooperation, project and financial management of the project were also discussed, as well as the piloting of the developed courses for participants of the advanced training system.
